Department Of Bolivar Cigars
Bolivar is the name of two brands of premium cigars, they are from Cuba distributed by Habanos SA, where is the factory owned by the State, the second part is a brand from the Dominican Republic, where are the cigars made from the Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco for General Cigar Company, that is now part of the Swedish Match. Both brands are named after the South American revolutionaries Simónu Bolivarovi.
The brand was founded probably in the UK by Mr. José (F). Rocha around the year 1901. Mark has not been registered in Havana, Cuba until the year 1921, When it became the owner of the brand name Rocha's firm, J. (F). Rocha y Cia. At this time the Bolivar was the smallest cigars-Delgado. After the death of Rocha brand was acquired by Cifuentes y Cia, and production was moved to the Partagas factory(now known as Francisco Pérez Germán factory), most of the previously manufactured dimensions is produced to this day. During these years,, under the management of the company Cifuente, has reached the mark of Bolivar to the world of Fame.
Since 2002, When the company Altadis gained market share from the Cuban Government on surveillance of tobacco industry, several changes took place. One of the changes was the inclusion of all the dimensions of the machine-and hand-made cigars. Bolivar cigars are among the smokers known as one of the strongest.
